Ocala, FL: The Florida Thoroughbred Region of the Porsche Club of America organized and participated in donating over $1000 worth of toys and a $1500 check to the local Toys for Tots holiday campaign in Ocala on December 5, 2020.

Members of the club gathered in the parking lot at the Porsche of Ocala dealership on Route 200 in Ocala last Saturday morning. Social distancing and masks were worn as members demonstrated best safety practices for COVID-19. There were 44 members participating in this event and some members from the Tampa and Orlando regions as well as members from the Porsche Owners Club of The Villages also joined the local Ocala members in supporting the Toys for Tots charity. The group of 23 cars then took off on a pre-planned driving tour of the scenic horse country in Ocala before arriving at the Toys for Tots headquarters at Market Street at Heathbrook where cars unloaded all the toys that had been collected for the children in need in Ocala.

Patrick Joynt, the Ocala Toys for Tots Coordinator, was thrilled to receive the donation of toys and cash donation to help make Christmas a bit more special for children in Ocala this year. He noted that this was an exceptionally difficult year for the Toys for Tots campaign and welcomed the involvement of the Florida Thoroughbred Region of PCA. Patrick emphasized that all donations to Toys for Tots in Ocala are used to support children in Marion County. The local impact in 2019 was serving 9,293 children. Donations are still being accepted by Toys for Tots. See

Bill Hodge, the club’s activities director, and Connie Taylor, the club’s philanthropy director, acknowledged that the club was eager to support children in need during this special time of year. The Porsche Club of America proclaims “it’s not just the cars, it’s the people” and the Florida Thoroughbred Region takes that to heart. The members in the club are serious about being involved in the community. Earlier this year the club participated in a food drive for a food pantry as well. Philanthropy is a special focus for this group of car enthusiasts. As Bill Hodge noted, “Porsches make great sleighs for Santa!”
